I have never seen him as sick as he was before these past two days. My angel has been wrapped up in blankets and snuggled into his pillows since 3 p.m. yesterday. He was having extreme lower abdominal pain, running a fever, and other symptoms that led us to believe that his appendix may be about to rupture. We rushed him to the emergency room and, more than three hours later, left with the result of viral infection. While a viral infection is certainly better than having appendicitis, he is still extremely weak and fatigued from it spreading through his body.
Even with him being so sick, he was so amazing for me this weekend. I recently had a reunion with my step mom and brother so I went to stay with them over my break. It was Valentine's Day so he came to the house to stay with me despite being so sick. We didn't have a fancy dinner or go to a movie, but I did get to spend my whole day holding him while he slept in my arms. The little things like that matter because I will look back on this Valentine's Day for the rest of my life as the day that I spent all day doing something so loving and simple. The fear of losing the love of my life, but then having the reassurance that he will be with me for another day was a lot to take in. I will forever be grateful to hold him in my arms and enjoy his company for many years to follow.
